A few years ago I spent a week by myself in London (the first time I'd ever traveled by myself – it was wonderful) and took the train down to Rye to for a couple of days in the middle of it. I stayed overnight in the little hotel with the windmill, and had a wonderful two days exploring the village and the countryside – one day I walked the path to Camber and the ocean. It was an amazing time, forever etched in my memory, and you brought it all beautifully back for me, especially as we still sit in late winter here in Northern Canada. Thank you so much for the stunning post, as always.

I know what you mean, love them but often they are ruined by chefs who just want to overcomplicate things. They are best just bought from the boats, opened cleaned and tossed in a very hot pan for a few seconds. Rye is really lovely, but it has always been special to me.
