Hi Jayne,
Yes, this is a very generous recipe and you will probably find that you have enough cake batter to make 3-4 cupcakes too. It's one of those recipes where, any less, and you would not have enough! I hope that this helps.
You can always enjoy the cupcakes as a little preview of how delicious your cake will be!
